Seven held in Dhaka over alleged militant connections

Police have detained seven people over their suspected connections with militant outfits, from the Adabor and Bhashantek areas in Dhaka. The detained were identified as Syed Sadman Choudhury, 26, Matiur Rahman alias Abu Sumaiya, 43, Ashiqur Rahman, 32, Azimul Haque alias Zian, 31, Md Sabbir Ahmed, 34, Abdur Rahman Shikdar, 42, and Md Kamal Hossain. Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said: “Sadman was detained from Adabor on Monday around 5:25pm over his involvement in militancy. “After gleaning information from him, law enforcers detained the other six people from a madrasa at Bhashantek.” Law enforcers also seized their mobile phones and laptops, and recovered some jihadi literature from the arrestees.This article was first published on banglatribune.com
