Police recovered the partially decomposed body of a lawyer from a rented apartment in Lalbagh, Dhaka, on Saturday.
The deceased was Muhammad Anwar Hossain.
The body was recovered around 11:30am from the second floor of a house at 10/1, Lane 3, Bowbazar in Shahidnagar, under Lalbagh police station.
According to police, a tenant living in an adjacent room found Hossain lying dead and informed police.
Police from Lalbagh police station went to the scene and began the initial legal procedures. Members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) crime scene unit later arrived at the scene.
Hossain was a lawyer at the Dhaka Judge Court and had a chamber in Room 214 on the first floor of the Annex Building of the Dhaka Bar Association.
Police said Hossain lived alone in the rented house as a bachelor, while his family resides in his village home.
Lalbagh police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jamil Hossain said Hossain lived alone.
“The initial suspicion is that he died of a stroke, and the body was 2 to 3 days old,” he said.
Police recovered his driving licence and are trying to contact his family after verifying the document.
