Law enforcement agencies are looking for the perpetrators behind the rape attempt of a student of Uttara University in Dhaka on-board a city bus in Gulshan area on Saturday noon.
Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector Tapos Kumar Ojha, who is investigating the incident, said: “A case was lodged by the victim’s husband with Gulshan Police Station. Now we are looking for the culprits behind this heinous act.”
“We are taking support from manual and technological sources to detect the bus, its driver and helpers,” he said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner (Uttara) Md Kamruzzaman said: “Following the incident, the students of Uttara University took hold of several buses of Great Turag bus service.”
“The incident, however, occurred in the Gulshan area in the city. We are providing every kind of support to the concerned investigating officer,” he said.
The female student from the university took the bus to go to the university on Saturday noon at 12:45pm from Badda Link Road. Suddenly the student noticed that the bus staff had stopped taking on passengers. She tried to get off the bus and was grabbed by the two conductors, but she managed to jump off.
Students of the university have been protesting on the roads of Uttara since Sunday, demanding punishment of the culprits. They have also taken ouver several of the company's buses.
