A Dhaka court on Sunday placed police constable Kawser Ali on a seven-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of his colleague Monirul Islam in the capital’s Baridhara diplomatic zone Saturday night.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shakil Ahammed passed the order as police produced the constable before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.
Kawser at around 11pm on Saturday went rogue and started random firing in front of the Palestine Embassy in Dhaka. His colleague Monirul received a gunshot and died on the spot.
Two pedestrians were also injured in the firing.
The deceased’s brother Md Mahbubul Haque filed the case with Gulshan police station.
