The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has appealed against the High Court's (HC) decision to acquit independent lawmaker and businessperson Haji Mohammad Salim from a three-year sentence for concealing information about his assets.
ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case during the military-backed caretaker government in 2007, for accumulating wealth worth Tk14.65 crore beyond the known sources of Haji Salim’s income.
On February 10, the High Court published the full text of its 2021 verdict upholding Haji Salim’s 10-year jail term.

However, the court also scrapped an additional three-year jail term for concealing information regarding his wealth.
In October 2009, Haji Salim challenged the trial court verdicts in High Court and secured a verdict in his favour in January 2011.
On April 30, this year, Haji Selim, who is still convited in a graft case, left Bangladesh for Thailand for medical treatment.
He returned to Dhaka on May 5, the lawmaker’s Personal Secretary Mohammad Billal told Dhaka Tribune.
