Rifat murder: Next court hearing July 31

Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate court has set the next hearing date of the Rifat murder case for July 31.

The court's Judge Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order around 10am on Monday, and sent the eight accused, who had confessed their crime, back to prison.

The eight accused were: Chandan, Hasan, Oli, Tiktok Hridoy, Nazmul Hasan, Tanvir Hossain, Rabbi and Sagar.

The Investigation Officer of Barguna Sadar police station Inspector Humayun Kabir said: "Nine accused have confessed their crime. Ratul Shikder Joy, another accused, was not presented at the court for being underage and was sent to a safe home.”

"Four other accused are in remand, he added.

Those accused – Rifat Farazi, Rabbi Akon, Arian Shrabon and Kamrul Hasan – have been placed on different remands.

Till date police have arrested 13 people on this murder case. The prime accused, Nayan Bond, was killed in a gunfight on July 2.

Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Ayesha Siddiqua Minni, in broad daylight, in the district town on June 26. Police also had CCTV footage of the incident.

His father Dulal Sharif had filed a murder case against 12 named and five or six unknown attackers with Barguna police station.
