The Public Service Commission (PSC) is investigating allegations of question paper leakage in recent job exams and may recommend cancelling the affected exams and taking disciplinary action if the allegations are proven.
According to a report by the media outlet Prothom Alo, the investigation's findings could be finalized within a week.
A senior PSC official said that a three-member investigation committee was formed to address the allegations.
The committee is chaired by Abdul Alim Khan, joint secretary of the PSC. Other members include PSC Director Dilawaz Durdana and Mohammad Azizul Haque, also a PSC director, who serves as the committee's Secretary.
The official said: “We are investigating fairly and impartially. If question paper leakage is proven, we will recommend cancelling the exams. The report will be submitted to the government, which will make the final decision.”
PSC Chairman Mohammad Sohrab Hossain said: “The investigation is ongoing, and we hope to have the report ready soon.”
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested 17 individuals, including two deputy directors and an assistant director from the PSC, in connection with the alleged question paper leak involving the Bangladesh Railway's Assistant Engineer recruitment exam, among others.
Earlier, private television channel 24 aired a report titled “BCS Prelims and 30 Important Exam Papers Leaked,” alleging that question papers for 30 recruitment exams, including BCS, had been leaked.
The report claimed that a ring responsible for leaking question papers had been active for over a decade.
It also alleged the involvement of several PSC officials in the leak, with five PSC officials currently in custody related to the allegations.
