Three cases have been filed over the death of a former student of Rajshahi University Owahida Shefat, who was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws for dowry.
Shefat's uncle Mizanur Rahman Khandakar filed the cases with Rajpara police station on Thursday night.
Rajpara OC Mehedi Hasan said the cases were filed against Shefat’s husband Md Asif, father-in-law Mohammad Hossain Ramjan and mother-in-law Nazmun Nahar Nazli under section 11 (A) of Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act, 2000.
The cases were filed accusing the deceased’s husband Asif, father-in-laws Mohammad Hossain Ramjan and mother-in-laws Nazmun Nahar Nazli, OC also confirmed.
According to the statements of the cases, Asif had been pressuring Shefat since long to bring Tk20 lakh from her father for business purpose. As Shefat was not responding to his demand, Asif used to torture her physically and mentally.
