Claiming that he wrote the book as a political expert, BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has termed BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi's reaction over it as unexpected.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed made the remarks at a press briefing at the Annex building in the Supreme Court premises on Monday afternoon.
He said: “I used to consider Rizvi as my younger brother. He is an intellectual person. This kind of comment coming from him is totally unexpected.”
“I thought my party members would appreciate me. They would thank me for writing such a book.”
“My only concern was the government. I thought they would send me to jail again,” he added.
He further said: “I write books as a political scientist. I do not know if Rizvi has read the book. I think he will repent over his comment after reading the book.”
“The book is about the time of Fakhruddin-Moinuddiun [caretaker] government and how they violated human rights.”
Expressing hope that the BNP will come to power again, he said: “BNP will surely come to power again, if my party members follow the findings over our defeat which is written in the book.”
Senior Lawyer Moudud’s book titled Bangladesh Emergency and the Aftermath (2007-2008) was inaugurated in the Supreme Court Bar Association Auditorium in the city on August 13.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed in his new book said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was only concerned about the release of her two sons during the emergency period in 2007-08.
“At that time she was very much a mother rather than a political leader, said the book.
Earlier in the day, Rizvi hinted that Moudud has written the book in order to impress the government at a press conference in the capital.
