SC adjourns Khaleda's petitions hearing

The Appellate Division has adjourned the hearing on two petitions of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia which questions the legality of appointment of a judge who indicted her in two graft cases.

A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain adjourned the hearing in reply to a time petition filed on Thursday morning and fixed September 1 for the next hearing of the petitions.

The defence lawyers have filed the petition mentioning that they are yet to get a copy of a High Court order on the issue.

Earlier on July 21, the apex court deferred the hearing until July 24 following the same issue.

On July 7, Khaleda challenged the High Court rulings that rejected petitions to stop trials against her and eight others in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.
