Tourist vehicle plunges into ditch in Thanchi, 2 killed, 5 injured

Two people were killed and five others seriously injured when a tourist vehicle, locally known as a “Chander Gari”, plunged into a deep roadside ditch in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on Monday afternoon.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the accident occurred around 3:45pm on the Dimpahar-Tendumukh road, about 600 meters from the Tendumukh BGB check post.

Personnel of Tendumukh BGB Camp under Bolipara Battalion (38 BGB), led by its commanding officer Lt Col Md Yasir Arafat Hossain, rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident and launched a rescue operation.

They recovered two people dead from the wreckage and rescued five others in critical condition.

The injured were sent to Alikadam Upazila Health Complex.

BGB informed Thanchi Police Station to take necessary legal steps regarding the bodies of the deceased.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Yasir Arafat Hossain said necessary legal and administrative measures regarding the accident are underway.
