The government has appointed Md Saidur Rahman, a journalist at The Daily Ittefaq, as press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, India.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday said he has been appointed for a 1-year term from the date of joining, subject to relinquishing all professional engagements, businesses, and positions with any government, semi-government, private institution, or other organization.
Saidur Rahman earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka.
He began his journalism career as the University of Dhaka correspondent for Dainik Dinkal before joining The Daily Ittefaq.
Following the July Movement, he was promoted to the position of Politics and Election Editor at The Daily Ittefaq.
He previously served as general secretary of the Dhaka University Journalists' Association and as president of the Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED), an organization of journalists covering the Election Commission.
