Body of missing Customs officer found beside Dhaka–Chittagong highway

A customs official was found dead beside the Dhaka–Chittagong highway in the Kotbari area of Comilla, around 12 hours after he went missing while returning to Dhaka completing official training in Chittagong.

The deceased was identified as Bullet Bairagi,35, an assistant revenue officer of the Customs, Excise and VAT Department.
He had been attending the 44th foundational training programme in Chittagong.

According to family sources, Bairagi left Alankar Mor of Chittagong by bus around 11:00 pm on Friday after completing his training, heading for Dhaka. He remained in contact with his family during the journey. At approximately 2:25 a.m., he last spoke with them, informing that he had reached the Tomchom Bridge intersection area in Comilla city.

After that, his phone became unreachable. As he did not return home for an extended period, his family searched for him in several locations. Later, his father, Sushil Bairagi, filed a general diary (GD) at Kotwali Model Police Station in Comilla.

Police from Moinamoti Highway Police Station recovered the body at around 7:45 am on Saturday, after being alerted via the national emergency service 999. The body was found on the footpath beside the Irish Hotel and Restaurant along the highway.

Moinamoti Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Momin confirmed the recovery of the body and said it was initially found unidentified. Later in the afternoon, around 1:00 p.m., family members visited the police station and identified the deceased as Bullet Bairagi.
