Eid travellers return, trains operate timely amid rush

Following the extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays, working individuals have started returning to the capital by train, with many passengers relieved that the train schedules have remained uninterrupted.

At noon on Thursday, a visit to Kamalapur Railway Station revealed a large number of passengers disembarking from an intercity train arriving from Rajshahi—more than double the number seen in the morning.

According to the authorities, the number of returnees is expected to increase gradually.

Passenger volume is expected to surpass manageable limits by Friday and Saturday, with the 10-day government holiday ending on Saturday.

To manage the additional passenger load, railway sources have confirmed that five pairs (ten) of Eid special trains are currently operating.

These special trains are running before and after Eid according to fixed schedules, all pre-announced for the convenience of passengers.

However, regular intercity trains continue to operate as usual.

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, the station master, said that all trains have arrived on time since morning, with no reported schedule disruptions.

He further noted that no complaints have been received from passengers regarding travel difficulties.

Passenger pressure is expected to increase on Friday and Saturday, he said.

In response, station security has been strengthened and strict measures have been enforced against ticketless travel, the official added.
