The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has announced a decision to prohibit journalists from entering the Secretariat, citing security concerns following the recent devastating fire.
In a press release issued on Saturday morning, the office said that the move aims to ensure the safety of the Secretariat, a Key Point Installation (KPI) damaged by this week’s major fire.
The press release also mentioned plans to review existing press accreditation cards. Fresh applications will soon be invited from all local and international news organizations to issue new accreditation cards.
Additionally, daily temporary access cards for specific events will be issued by respective ministries, the notification said. The government expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and sought journalists' understanding and cooperation.
On Friday, the government had already cancelled all temporary entry passes for private individuals, allowing access only to officials and employees with permanent or government-issued temporary passes.
