Salehuddin: Interim govt wants to set footprint for next govt

Finance Affairs Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said on Friday that the interim government aims to lay the foundation for the next administration, much like creating a highway after building a road.

"We have a strong understanding with the people about our current initiatives. If the next government shows reluctance to continue this work, the people will compel them to act. The future of Bangladesh will no longer be cloudy; it will shine brightly like the sun for everyone. Without corruption and political uncertainty, Bangladesh will achieve new heights in the global economy," he added.

Salehuddin, also science and technology affairs adviser, said these while exchanging views with the senior government officials of Chittagong at local circuit house this evening.

Expressing his optimism on reaching Bangladesh's desired goal, Salehuddin said that the interim government is putting priority on bringing dynamism in trade and commerce aimed at uplifting economic and social status of commoners.

The adviser urged all financial institutions to adopt and make optimal use of information technology to ensure the well-being of the people.

Stressing the importance of increased use of science and research, he said the impact of the activities of the science and technology ministry should be transcended at all levels of society.

He urged government officials to extend their all-out support to the interim government.

The finance adviser said a suitable working environment is being created at all levels of the administration, creating scope for honest and competent civil servants to serve the nation.
