The water levels of seven rivers in 14 stations across Bangladesh are above the danger level.
However, the water levels in most river regions are stable, and some areas have started to see a decrease in water levels.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rain in some areas and the possibility of landslides in the hilly areas in Chittagong.
The Flood Forecast and Warning Centre reports that the water levels in the major rivers of the northeastern, eastern, and southeastern regions of the country have been decreasing slowly over the past 24 hours.
No heavy rainfall was observed in India’s Tripura border areas of Comilla, Brahmanbaria, and Feni districts, as well as the interior catchment areas of Tripura.
Consequently, the flood situation in the low-lying areas of Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Feni, Comilla, and Chittagong districts is slowly improving.
According to BMD, there is no chance of heavy rainfall in the northeastern region and upstream areas in the next 24 hours. Flood conditions in the low-lying areas around the Manu, Khowai, and Dhalai rivers in Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts may improve during this time.
The agencies also state that there is no expectation of heavy rainfall in the southeastern, eastern, and adjacent upstream areas in the next 24 hours. The flood situation in the low-lying areas around the Muhuri, Feni, Gomti, and Halda rivers in Feni, Comilla, and Chattogram districts may improve.
The water levels in the Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers are decreasing, while the Ganges-Padma rivers remain stable, which may continue for the next 48 hours.
The water levels in the Surma-Kushiyara rivers in the northeastern region remain stable and may decrease in the next 24 hours.
In the northern regions, the water levels in the Teesta, Dharla, and Dudhkumar rivers are decreasing. The normal flow of these rivers is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
