10 held in Dhanmondi 32, handed over to police

At least 10 people were captured from the Dhanmondi Road 32 area in the capital and handed over to the police.

The 10 were detained from early Thursday morning to 11:30am and handed over to Dhanmondi police station.

Pedestrians in the area were being questioned if they looked suspicious, and their mobile phones were being checked.

Police personnel were present to maintain law and order.

Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emran said: "The mobile phones of those near the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Dhanmondi Road 32 were checked."

The OC added that the detained individuals were questioned and claimed to be involved in Awami League politics. "It has not yet been decided whether charges will be filed against them."

Earlier in the day, students and the public occupied the area since midnight to prevent the Awami League's "march to Dhanmondi 32" program.

No central Awami League leaders have been seen at Dhanmondi 32 since Thursday morning.

In the morning, a car that had been vandalized was found at the traffic intersection near Dhanmondi Road 32.
