Government employees will enjoy a five-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha, with vacations from June 14 to 18.
The moon was sighted in Bangladesh on Friday evening, marking the start of the Arabic month of Zilhaj on Saturday.
Consequently, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 17, the 10th of Zilhaj.
Public holidays have been declared for June 16, 17, and 18. Additionally, June 14 and 15 fall on the weekend, thus extending the holiday period. Therefore, government employees will begin their leave on June 14 and return to work on June 19.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, Eid-ul-Azha is a general holiday, with the days before and after Eid also being designated as holidays for government officials by executive order.
During the Eid holidays, a significant number of people travel from Dhaka to their homes to celebrate with their loved ones.

Government offices will resume regular hours from June 19, with officials working from 9am to 5pm as usual.
