MP Anar’s daughter to go to Kolkata for DNA test

Mumtarin Ferdoush Dorin, daughter of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, will go to Kolkata for a DNA test to confirm whether the recovered flesh belongs to her father or not.

The pieces of around 4kgs of flesh were recovered from the septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The deceased MP's brother, Abed Ali, and MP’s personal secretary (PS) Abdur Rauf will go with Dorin. Rauf said Abed Ali has already got a visa but the two others have yet to receive visas.

“So it is not possible to go to India now. After getting the visas, we will leave for Kolkata,” said Rauf.

Meanwhile, Dorin said: “I was supposed to give my visa, but I have yet to receive… I will go to India after getting the visa.

“However, we cannot be sure regarding confirmation of recovered flesh if there is no DNA test.”.

After the West Bengal CID recovered the flesh, it was assumed to be the body parts of MP Anar. To confirm it, samples were sent to the forensic laboratory.

However, blood relatives are required to match these DNA samples. So the MP's daughter has to go to India, officials said.

In the morning, in response to a question from reporters, the MP's daughter said that she has come to know that the body parts of her father have been recovered. The police did not confirm whether the body parts belonged to her father.

“For this, the police have called us to provide DNA test samples. But I cannot go now as my visa is not ready,” said Dorin.

The Jhenaidah-4 MP crossed the Darshana-Gede border into India for treatment on May 12. He stayed at his friend Gopal Biswas’s home in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The following day, he left to see a doctor at noon and was expected to return in the evening. However, a WhatsApp message from his phone to Biswas stated that he went to Delhi instead and would call if necessary.

Since then, he could not be reached by phone. Eventually, the government confirmed his death on May 22, citing Indian police.
