BNP leader Chand denied bail in Satkhira

A Satkhira court on Sunday denied bail to Abu Sayeed Chand, the Rajshahi district unit BNP convenor, for threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and making seditious remarks aimed at destabilizing the government.

He was produced in the Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at 11am. When he asked for bail, Judge Md Ziarul Islam denied it and ordered to send him to jail.

According to the case details, during a BNP rally held at the Shibpur High School ground in Puthiya, Rajshahi, on May 19, Abu Sayeed Chand publicly issued threats, stating: "Sheikh Hasina should be sent to the graveyard, and necessary measures will be taken to force her resignation."

Following the incident, after cases were filed in different parts of the country, Saiduzzaman Ziko, former vice president of the Satkhira district Swachhasebak League, filed a case against him in Satkhira. Chand appeared in the court regarding the case on Sunday.

Advocate Abdul Latif said that a "production warrant" was issued against the accused as he was in jail in another case. After the hearing on Sunday, a custody warrant was issued against him and he was sent to jail.
