Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a top leader of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) from Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.
The arrestee, Hafez Nur Mohammad, is a military commander of the terrorist group. He is a resident of the Kutupalong refugee camp.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said they arrested Nur Muhammad from Shamlapur area of Teknaf on Friday night.
The officer added that they are conducting raids in remote forests to arrest the other members of the gang based on information gleaned from Nur Mohammad.
Arsa has been operating against the Myanmar security forces since 2016 and is blamed for murders, extortion, kidnapping and Yaba smuggling in the camps.
