Regarding the upcoming Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) election, Sammilito Bebsayi Parishad Convener Mir Nizam Uddin Ahmed strongly advocated for democratic voting rights.
“Voting is a democratic right. We are fighting for the right to vote,” he said while attending a panel introduction meeting held at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Centre in the capital on Friday.
The FBCCI election, to be held on July 31 at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre, will see candidates from two panels - the Bebsayi Oikko Parishad and Sammilito Bebsayi Parishad.
This year, 23 candidates from the Sommilito Babsayi Porishad are contesting for director positions.
At the panel introduction event, Nizam Uddin emphasized: "To solve problems, one must enter the FBCCI. If a member cannot make their preferred candidate a director, then solving these issues is not feasible."
Nizam Uddin also hoped that "each member will be able to exercise their voting rights and elect their preferred candidate."
Md Abu Chadek, another director aspirant, emphasized the importance of holding the FBCCI elections regularly instead of using the selection method, saying the process should be more democratic and transparent.
