Wasa recommends reappointing Taqsem as managing director for 3 years

The board of directors of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) has recommended that engineer Taqsem A Khan be reappointed as managing director for the next three years.

With this development in effect, Taqsem will become the managing director of Dhaka Wasa for the seventh consecutive time.

However, three of the nine members of the board gave a note of dissent (objection) in the meeting, according to a source.

In the meeting, six out of nine members voted in favour of extending the term of the MD.

According to the rules, the proposal will be sent to the local government ministry now.

His current term is scheduled to end on 14 October.

Taqsem A Khan was appointed managing director of Dhaka Wasa in 2009 and subsequently reappointed six times, despite allegations of corruption against him.
