Arafat: Awami League has no rival, only adversaries

The Awami League's candidate for the upcoming Dhaka-17 by-polls, Mohammad A Arafat, has said the party, which is the largest in Bangladesh, has no rival, only adversaries.

BNP-Jamaat, their allies and anti-independence forces are basically the main opponents of the Awami League, he during his while campaigning for the election in Mastertek and West Manikdi areas of the capital on Tuesday.

Stating that the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina believes in the politics of development and progress, Arafat said: "I am going to all the areas under Dhaka-17, talking to the common people and listening to their expectations. We have to solve all our problems gradually.”

He also said West Manikdi and Mastertek areas have a waterlogging issue and their roads are very congested. All the problems will be solved gradually, he promised.

Saying that anti-independence forces are conspiring, Arafat said: “They are rejected by the people and now they want to defeat us by conspiring.”

They have to be responded to by maintaining a peaceful environment, said the Awami League candidate.

He also urged voters to be vigilant and careful.
