Jabbar: Government working to ensure digital security

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has said the government is committed to ensuring digital security and expanding digitization.

"Social media platform is now a big challenge to create socio-political instability, including communal riots. The present government is working to overcome that crisis," he added.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at an online program titled “Digital Security Conference”, organized by an expatriate Bangladeshi digital technology entrepreneur in the United States on Friday evening, said an official release in Dhaka on Saturday.

The minister highlighted various programs taken by the government including acquiring technical capabilities to ensure digital security and enacting digital security laws.

He also said the government is not lagging behind in tackling the challenge of digital security.

Bangladesh has become a global leader in the development of digital technology, Jabbar said, adding that this achievement is the result of the successful implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Digital Bangladesh program.

With the expatriate entrepreneur Mostafizur Rahman in the chair, the program was addressed, among others, by the Chairman of Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited (BCSCL) Dr Shahjahan Mahmood and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Director General Brig Gen Md Nasim Parvez as special guests.
