Online ticket service eases Eid travel

Train tickets have been provided online for Eid journey to prevent ticketless passengers from entering the station. This management of the railway has given relief to the passengers during the Eid journey.

Passengers were seen praising the new system on the first day of the Eid journey by rail at the Kamalapur railway station on Monday.

Shah Paran, who was going home for Eid with his family on Chattala Express, said: “I am going home on the occasion of Eid. I live in Narayanganj. Online ticketing system has been facilitated. I can travel without any trouble.”

Private university student Khairul Islam will go to his home Brahmanbaria to celebrate Eid with his parents. He said: “I have been able to buy tickets without any inconvenience due to online ticketing. There was no problem entering the station either.”

He also said: “If the ticket checking system is better, black market situation can be prevented. It would have been better if they checked the NID on entry. They only ask for names.”

Ifti and Mushfiq, two friends going to Narsingdi, said that having online tickets has been very beneficial. Earlier, people used to come at night and stand in line to buy tickets. It didn't happen this time. There was no problem in entering the station. They said that the NID of one of them was checked and the other was not.

Kamalapur railway station Manager Masud Sarwar said: “Today is our first day of the Eid journey. The first journey of the advance tickets that were sold on April 7 started today (Monday). All the trains have left on time since morning as per rules. The journey has started safely from here as per our plan.”

Regarding traveling on the roof, he said: “No passenger will be taken on the roof this time. We are keeping an eye on this. We haven't heard anything from Kamalapur and Airport Station yet. We are also keeping an eye on Joydebpur. We have law enforcement force in Dhaka so, no one can travel without ticket or rooftop. If the passengers are also aware about this then we can be more successful.”

At that time, he expressed his sorrow about the Sonar Bangla train, which suffered an accident, and said: “Due to an unexpected accident, the journey of our train has been cancelled.”

“The Sonar Bangla train met with an accident on Sunday. Several of its compartments were damaged. Hence its journey was cancelled. For those who bought tickets for this train, we installed four separate coaches today (Monday) at Mahanagar Prabhati. Besides, this arrangement will be kept on April 19 as well,” he added.
