BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Advisor Khandaker Abdul Muktadir was released two hours after his arrest from the Sylhet Osmani International Airport area on Saturday afternoon.
The police released him from Kotwali Police Station after he gave police the court's arrest warrant recall order.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Sudip Das said: “Muktadir was on bail in the case in which he was arrested. After his arrest, his lawyers brought a recall to the police station. After verifying the documents, he was released around 6pm.”
On Saturday, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir was arrested by the Sylhet Airport police. He was apprehended at around 3:30pm at the MAG Osmani International Airport.
“Muktadir was arrested due to a warrant against him in an old case filed with Kotwali police station,” said Sudip Das.
Delwar Hossain Dinar, the general secretary of the district Chhatra Dal, said the police arrested Muktadir immediately after he left the airport.
“When asked about the reason for the arrest, police said there was a warrant against him in a case. Other than that, they are not providing any information about the nature of the case or when it was filed,” he said.
