EC Rasheda: Hero Alom's allegations have no basis

Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana said that there is no basis for the complaint of changing the results of independent candidate content creator Ashraful Hossen Alom, widely known as Hero Alom, in Bogra-4 by-election.

She said that she had a discussion with the DC and district election officer. No flaw was found so the result was absolutely correct.

Alom, who was contesting the elections to Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) and Bogra-6 (Bogra Sadar), was ahead in the Bogra-4 by-election for the majority of vote counting. However, when the final result of all 112 centres was announced, it was found that Hero Alom was defeated by a narrow margin.

In this regard, he held a press conference at his home in Bogra at 10:30pm on Wednesday. There, he rejected the results of the vote and said: "Votes were not stolen, the results were stolen."

He also said that he would go to the High Court to get justice.

Alom bagged 19,571 votes while his closest rival Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal candidate AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen got 20,405 votes, according to unofficial results.
