Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj has turned into a place of euphoria as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the upazila to inaugurate the construction work of the Bangladesh's first-ever 31.241-km underground metro rail project, Mass Rapid Transit Line-1 (MRT-1).
Awami League leaders and activists flocked to Narayanganj on the arrival of the prime minister.
They joined the venue in a joyful atmosphere playing drums and bands.
From the morning, the leaders and activists of Narayanganj Awami League and affiliated organizations joined the program with joy. There is a festive atmosphere in the entire area. The streets of the venue and the surrounding area are covered with banners and festoons.
Meanwhile, there is tight security around the huge stage built in Rupganj's Purbachal Sector-4 for the prime minister's arrival.
The vice-president of Rupganj Chhatra League Zemin said: "From morning, the leaders and activists of Awami League-Chhatra League and associated organizations took part in the inauguration ceremony in groups. As the day progressed, the number of activists increased. The leaders and activists were very happy on the arrival of the prime minister, that is why they welcomed the prime minister by playing a band. The city of Purbachal is full of slogans. In a word, there is a festive atmosphere here.”
Mohammad Shahjahan Bhuiyan, general secretary of Rupganj Upazila Awami League, said: "On the arrival of the prime minister, there is a festive atmosphere among the leaders and activists.”
Chaulau Marma, additional superintendent of police (Crime and Operations) of Narayanganj district said: "All kinds of security measures have been taken at the event of the prime minister.”
