Hili land port authorities have taken additional cautionary measures to prevent the spread of Omicron BF7, a new sub-variant of Covid-19.
Antigen tests are being conducted on suspected passengers from India.
Anima Rani, a medical technologist working at the health screening booth at the Hili immigration check-post, said necessary health checkups are being done with thermal scanners and infrared thermometers.
Also, it is being seen whether passengers have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine or not, she said.
Passengers showing symptoms of Covid-19 are undergoing rapid antigen tests. If someone is positive, arrangements have been made to keep him/her in isolation at the upazila health complex, Anima said.
However, the port authorities have yet to find any Covid-19 positive passengers, she added.
