Customers form human chain demanding release of Evaly’s Rassel

Several customers and businessmen have formed a human chain in the capital's Shahbag area demanding the release of the e-commerce platform Evaly's Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Rassel from jail.

The human chain was organized in front of the Bangladesh National Museum on Saturday, reports Bangla Tribune.

The participants of the human chain claimed that if Rassel is released from jail, they will get back their money and goods stuck in the system.

Tariqul Aziz Bappi, on behalf of the organizers of the human chain, said that Rassel has been in jail for about 14 months.

“We have been demanding his release for so long. It is our belief that if he comes out, we will be able to get back the Tk25 crores that are stuck in Evaly's payment gateway,” he added.

Meanwhile, Evaly's merchant Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said in the human chain, Evaly is now doing business in profit.

“We want Rassel to take over in order to refund the money and goods to the customers,” he added.

After being closed for the past year, e-commerce platform Evaly started selling products from October 28 through its campaign titled “Dhonnobad Utshob,” according to the infamous platform's official Facebook page.

Shamima Nasrin, Evaly co-founder and former chairman, hinted at starting a new campaign for selling products from October 15.
