Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has urged the teachers of the Khulna University to conduct research to utilize the investment possibility in the country’s South-Western region after opening of the Padma Bridge.
She was speaking as chief guest at the inception meeting of Khulna University’s achievement on education, research and infrastructure development and future plan held at the Martyred Tazuddin Bhaban on Sunday night.
“Huge investment opportunities including industrialization, employment and tourism possibilities have been created in the South zone of the country after opening of the Padma Bridge and researchers can help to boost country’s economy through their outstanding research,” she said.
Both foreign and domestic investors are ready to invest here but they want to know the detailed information and statistics about what kind of investment is better and profitable, she said, adding that KU researchers can help the investors through their research.
She also said: “Besides, researchers can help to strengthen university-industry linkage through their research on many other subjects.
"Universities would create new eco-system to fulfil the current demand of the people. The University Grant Commission would create new era for working for the universities.”
The minister also assured to approve KUs different projects including organogram and infrastructural development.
Vice-Chancellor of KU Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain chaired the meeting while UGC member Prof Dr Md Sazzat Hossain, Prof Dr Hosne Ara, among others, addressed the function.
Acting Registrar Prof Khan Golam Quddus screened power point presentation on KU’s achievement as well as its future plan.
