Budget FY23: Top 5 priorities

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday said the government has considered the top five priorities for the 2022-23 financial year.

He said this while proposing the new budget to the Parliament.

The minister said that, in preparing the budget for the next fiscal year, top priority has been given to containing inflation stemming from the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

“Agriculture is our second most important sector, owing to its role in providing food security while human resource development, which includes health, education, and skill development, is our third priority sector,” he added.

Kamal mentioned: “The fourth priority is to boost domestic investment, increase exports and promote export diversification. Besides, our fifth priority sector is job creation and rural development.”
