A one-year-old child has succumbed to her burn injuries sustained in a home fire in Dhaka’s Jatrabari, a day after her parents died at the same hospital.
Fatema was pronounced dead around 7am on Tuesday by doctors at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Inspector Bacchu Mia of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s police outpost.
Her paternal uncle, Kamal said: “We could not save any of them. Fatema will be buried beside her parents in Pabna.”

Fatema’s parents, Abdul Karim, 30, and Khadija Begum, 25, died minutes apart in the early hours of Monday at the same hospital.
Karim suffered 55% burns while his wife 95%, and Fatema had suffered 35% burns.
An investigation by police and Titas Gas authority revealed Karim’s kitchen was filled with cooking gas from an open gas cylinder connection. Flames erupted when Khadija switched on their stove.

Sabiul Awal, manager of Titas Gas Distribution Company’s Dhaka South branch told an online newspaper on Monday that they found an LP gas cylinder in the kitchen along with the pipeline connection of Titas Gas.
“We did not find any fault in the gas line, so the fire may have started from the cylinder,” he said.
