Agami Education Foundation, a sister organization of Agami Inc. USA, has started the distribution of food supplies and other essential items to around 3,000 households, who are affected by the lockdown, as a measure to contain the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
According to the AEF emergency response team 3,241 families in 13 Agami-supported schools, including one donor directed institution located in Dhaka, Gazipur, Comilla, Sylhet, Habiganj, Chittagong, Rangamati, and Jhenaidah have already received 12kilograms rice, 8kg potato, 2liters Soybean oil, 2kg salt, 2kg lentil, 4 Dettol soaps each among other necessary commodities through second round of distribution.

Still a large number of families are yet to receive the survival pack.
AEF executive director Nafisa Khanam officially flagged off the food distribution on March 28, which started in Empyrean Hope, a slum centered school located in Adabor of the capital Dhaka.
In her brief address Nafisa said, “The lockdown has already disproportionately hurt marginalized communities due to loss of livelihood, lack of food, proper health facilities, and other basic needs. We will continue to do everything possible, to support underprivileged children and their families through this challenging time.”
Agami is determined to extend necessary support in the fight against novel coronavirus pandemic – particularly in Agami-supported schools, with multiple relief and safety initiatives, including ensuring basic food security for a month, and a hotline to get medical advice from doctors.
Plans are also in the making to address the challenges of life after Covid-19 back to school programs to return to Agami’s primary mission of supporting education and health for underprivileged children.
Currently, Agami is hosting a fundraising event to support and continue the food distribution campaign. The detail can be found at the website - www.agami.org - and in their facebook page. One can also donate in AEF's bank account in Dhaka or through bKash.
Agami families urge and believe that local businesses and wealthy people of the society should join in our effort to help tackle this global crisis.
