Home Minister: We have specific information on 2 more Bangabandhu’s killers

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said they have specific information on two more killers of Bangabandhu among the five who have escaped abroad.

The government is trying hard to bring them back home and execute them, he said at his Dhanmondi residence in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon, while Shipping Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury handed him 2,000 packet of food items to distribute among the poor and helpless people as relief.

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the nation has been freed once again by the execution of Bangabandhu’s killer Abdul Majed.

His execution was a Mujib Year gift to the people from our prime minister, he added.

Abdul Majed, one of the convicts in the killing of Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was executed at the Dhaka Central Jail at 12:01am on Sunday.

He was buried at his in-laws' house at Sonargaon on Sunday dawn.

On April 10, a group of four family members, not including the convict’s wife, met him at prison.

Majed’s death sentence was executed within four days after President Abdul Hamid turned down his clemency plea on April 8.

The same day, the Dhaka District and Sessions Judge’s court issued the death warrant for Majed, who was arrested in Dhaka on April 7.
