AL prepares for Mujibnagar Day

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader held a meeting with the top leaders of the districts under Khulna division regarding observance of the Mujibnagar Day on April 17 on Sunday.
The first government of Bangladesh was formed on April 10, 1971, which took oath on April 17, at Meherpur’s Mujibnagar.
Regarding observance of the Mujibnagar Day on April 17, the day in 1971 on which the wartime government took oath which led the Liberation War against Pakistan, Quader said: “We are working with the leaders from Meherpur and neighbouring areas to draw more people on Mujibnagar Day. But we also working to maintain discipline at the public gathering."
Quader announced that a convening committee has been formed with the party Presidium member Mohammed Nasim as convener with Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Organising Secretary Abdur Rahman.
To the organisers, he said: “I hope the leaders concerned will make the programme a success with the true spirit of the day.”
Quader also announced that AL will celebrate Pohela Baishakh with due festivity with a colourful procession from Bahadur Shah Park at 8am that will end at Bangabandhu Avenue of the capital on the morning of the Bengali New Year.
