A token of friendship: Portugese PM gifts CR7's signed jersey to Modi

A photo of Modi and Antonio holding Cristiano Ronaldo's signed jersey is making the rounds on the internet.The jersey with number '7' was flaunted and held by the premiers of the two countries for being photographed in presence of journalists. Acknowledging Portugal as  “the football giant” Modi addressed Antonio: "We are aware, Excellency, that you are an avid soccer fan. Portugal's strength in football and the rapid development of this sport in India could well form the nucleus of an emerging partnership in sporting disciplines.” Modi also gave Antonio a token – an English translation of Modi's father's novel.Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker with golden feet, has time and again exhibited his excellent prowess on the football field around the world – be it for his own country Portugal or the Spanish club, Real Madrid. He has recently helped his teams win in Euro Cup 2016 and UEFA Champions League 2016, and was awarded four Ballon d'Ors – an annual award given to the world's top football players. India and Portugal have signed seven key agreements in the areas of defence and security, information technology and energy among others on Saturday. Modi and Antonio have agreed “to deepen ties and called for tougher action against global terror as well as the states harbouring them,” reports NDTV.
