Age limit for entry to govt jobs raised to 32

Candidates will be allowed to attempt the BCS exam a maximum of three times

Update : 24 Oct 2024, 03:55 PM

The government has decided to raise the maximum age limit for entering government jobs to 32 years.

This decision came during a meeting of the interim government's advisory council on Thursday, according to a press release from the Cabinet Division.

The press release says the government has given both policy and final approval to the draft ordinance titled “Maximum Age Limit for Direct Recruitment to Government Jobs, 2024.”

The ordinance sets the maximum age limit for direct recruitment to government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory bodies and public non-financial corporations at 32 years.

The 32-year age limit will apply to all cadres of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

Similarly, this age limit will also apply to government jobs outside the BCS framework.

For autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations, the respective recruitment rules will be applicable with necessary adjustments.

However, for defence personnel and law enforcement agencies, their respective recruitment rules will remain unchanged.

Additionally, under the provisions of this ordinance and the authority granted by Section 59A of the Public Service Act, 2018, the Ministry of Public Administration will revise the Bangladesh Civil Service Recruitment Rules, 2014. This revision will include a new rule allowing candidates to attempt the BCS exam a maximum of three times.
