At least 31 people were reportedly killed in clashes between protesters and police on Monday in Savar, Dhaka.
This information was obtained from various local hospitals and relatives of the deceased.
Several local residents in Ashulia reported that two bodies were found hanging upside down by their feet on a pedestrian bridge on the highway in front of Ashulia police station.
The bodies were taken down in the morning.
Two others were burned to death in a pickup truck. Another body was found in front of the police station, which was also set on fire. These bodies might belong to police officers.
When attempting to contact senior police officers in Savar, including Dhaka District Police Superintendent Md Asaduzzaman, around 4pm, their phones were found to be switched off.
However, on the previous day, Dhaka District Police Superintendent (SP) Md Asaduzzaman said that three police stations had been vandalized and set on fire.
He had received reports that several police officers had been killed and was trying to gather more information.
Officials at the Enam Medical College Hospital reported that they had documented the deaths of 15 people by 3:30pm on Tuesday, following the clashes throughout the day on Monday.
The deceased included Ramzan, Mujahid, Nafisa, Tawhidur Rahman, Safwan, Russel, Rafiq, Nissan, Munna, Sajib, Rana, Alamin, Sajjad, Lalmia, and Qayyum, though their detailed identities are not yet known.
Md Yusuf, the superintendent of Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, said that as of 3pm on Tuesday, the death toll at the hospital had reached 15.
The condition of at least four people admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is critical.
During the clashes on Monday, a man named Shraban Gazi, 21, was killed in the Pakija area of Savar. His family claimed he was shot and killed.
Golam Rahman Shahjahan, the coordinator of Gonoshasthaya Samaj Bhittik Medical College Hospital in Savar, said that six people died from gunshot wounds on Monday. Some were shot in the head, others in the abdomen. No further deaths had been reported as of now among those injured in the clashes.
Harun Or Rashid, the manager of the Women and Children's Hospital in Ashulia, said that three people were brought in dead on Monday. Among them were Swapan Pramanik, 20 and Zahidur Rahman, 25. The identity of the third person has not been confirmed. All had gunshot wounds.
Md Russel Mia, the manager of Habib Hospital in the Palashbari area of Ashulia, said that five bodies were brought to the hospital's front area on Monday afternoon. Family members of four of the deceased later took the bodies away.
It's unclear if they were taken to another hospital for death certificates. One unidentified body was sent to the morgue, he added.
