Protesters again blocked different roads in Chittagong in response to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s calls to press their one-point demand on Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of people from different walks of life, including students, their guardians, and workers, joined the protest march.

They gathered at Kotowali, Reazuddin Bazar, Station Road, Jubilee Road, and the road leading to City College, blocking traffic on four busy roads towards Newmarket, causing significant congestion.

The students started gathering at New Market intersection from 2:30pm on and stayed there till the latest reports were received.

Meanwhile, the local Awami League is holding a peace rally at the Lalkhan Bazar intersection. A large number of Awami League leaders and activists have gathered there.

Despite protesters at the Newmarket intersection, law enforcement was notably absent.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) Kazi Md Tareq Aziz said: "Police are on alert. If the law-and-order situation deteriorates, measures will be taken."

The protesters have declared an indefinite non-cooperation movement starting Sunday.
