Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has enhanced security measures at various important locations in Dhaka following the government's ban on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman provided the information on Thursday afternoon.
He said that the DMP was ready to handle any type of terrorism or sabotage.
Earlier, a government executive order was issued to ban the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and a notification was published by the Ministry of Home Affairs at around 4pm on Thursday.
Before this, Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq had said that a notification banning Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir would be issued by Wednesday.
However, later, Home Minister Asaduzzaman said that the process was ongoing and that the notification would be issued at any time.
