Acting Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami ATM Masum has alleged that the government is conspiring to ban Jamaat-e-Islami by making false allegations to hide its wrong-doing.
He said that Jamaat will continue all its programs democratically and peacefully.
This decision of the government will be dealt with by the people of the country in a systematic and democratic process and peacefully.
Acting General Secretary of Jamaat ATM Masum said these things in a statement given to the media on Wednesday afternoon.
Referring to the government's decision to ban Jamaat-e-Islami, ATM Masum said that a party is not banned just by declaring it banned by a government order.
A party with which millions of people are associated cannot be banned by any government order.
He condemned the statement accusing the police of attacking the anti-discrimination student movement's “March for Justice” program across the country.
He said that police attacked students in different places of the country including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chittagong, Gazipur, Khulna, Barisal, Kishoreganj, Chandpur, Lakshmipur,Tangail, Bogra, Thakurgaon, Jessore.
Sound grenades and tear gas were fired at the students' march in Sylhet.
In the attack, more than 50 people were injured and a large number of people were arrested across the country.
ATM Masum said: "The government promised not to arrest and harass any of the students, nor file a case; but students across the country are being prosecuted and arrests and harassment continue. On the other hand, the government is acting sympathetic on the one hand, while on the other hand it continues to attack the students. We strongly condemn and protest this two-pronged policy of the government.”
The statement demanded immediate withdrawal of curfew, mass arrests, assault and harassment of students.
At the same time, the government was urged to stop the conspiracy against Jamaat.
