We have all grown up eating different species of mangoes but what truly stands apart from the other mangoes is the Fazli mango. The Fazli mango, celebrated worldwide, is cultivated in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and other nations.

Known for its ample size, sweetness, thin skin, and vibrant yellow flesh, it is favored for eating fresh, juicing, and various mango-based products. Even though the tale of how Fazli mango got its name is refuttable, the following

Story is according to Munjer Alam, secretary of the Chapainawabganj Krishi association.

In the 1800s, amidst the Gour region, an elderly woman lived in a humble hut adorned with a flourishing mango tree in its front yard. This mango tree, known for bearing exceptionally delicious fruits, was a source of pride for the old woman.

One fateful day, the local collector, Rajvensh, paid a visit to the area. Hearing of the renowned mango tree, the elderly woman eagerly plucked some ripe mangoes and presented them to the collector as a gesture of hospitality and pride in her homegrown produce.

Impressed by the mangoes' exquisite flavor and intrigued by their origin, Rajvensh asked the elderly woman for the mango's name. However, due to a misunderstanding or perhaps a language barrier, the woman mistook his question. Assuming he was inquiring about her own identity, she promptly replied with a smile, "Fazli bibi."

Little did she know that her innocent response would eventually lead to the mango variety being associated with her name. Over time, the mango from her tree became known as the Fazli mango, immortalizing both the delicious fruit and the charming tale of its naming in local folklore.
