Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated nationwide with the ritual sacrifice of animals in the name of Allah on Monday.
The festival falls on the 10th day of the Dhu al-Hijjah month in the Hizri calendar, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his beloved son, Prophet Ismail, approximately 4,500 years ago. Prophet Ismail accepted his fate to please Allah, but in His mercy, Allah substituted a ram for the sacrifice.
The images taken by Dhaka Tribune photographer Ahadul Karim Khan show devotees offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and National Eidgah in Dhaka on Monday.
