‘Euphoria’ grows up, but chaos refuses to fade

Season 3 will run for 8 episodes, with the finale set to air on Sunday, May 31

Update : 11 Apr 2026, 04:05 PM

After more than 4 years off screen, HBO’s Euphoria is back on April 12 for its long-awaited third season, and the new trailer makes one thing clear -- the chaos has only deepened.

The series, led by Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi, moves 5 years beyond the last episode and follows the East Highland characters into early adulthood. The trailer teases a fresh round of drugs, betrayal, romance and reinvention, with Rue still at the center of danger.

Zendaya’s Rue is shown facing trouble with Laurie, the drug dealer introduced in the previous season, while another character warns her that someone called Alamo is hunting her. The trailer also shows Rue being questioned by drug enforcement agents and later forced to swallow something suspicious in Mexico.

Sweeney’s Cassie has become an adult content creator and is now married to Nate, played by Elordi, who appears to be dealing with his own problems. Maddy, played by Alexa Demie, also re-enters Cassie’s life and is seen helping her film content. Jules, played by Hunter Schafer, is now in art school and working as a sugar baby, while trying to build a life as a painter.

Showrunner Sam Levinson said in December that he felt “strongly this is our best season yet” and said the 5-year jump felt like a natural point in the story. He also said Lexi, played by Maude Apatow, will be working as an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone.

Season 3 will run for 8 episodes, with the finale set to air on Sunday, May 31.

The principal cast is returning, including Zendaya, Schafer, Eric Dane, Elordi, Sweeney, Demie, Apatow, Colman Domingo, Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry. The new season also brings in around 20 new cast members, among them Rosalía, Trisha Paytas, Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne and Colleen Camp, along with Eli Roth, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Sam Trammell, Rebecca Pidgeon and Matthew Willig.

Storm Reid confirmed in 2023 that she would not return, while Austin Abrams and Algee Smith are also not coming back. Barbie Ferreira exited after season 2, and Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, died at 25 after that season, leaving his character’s story on a cliffhanger.
