Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury is coming to the big screen for the first time. Her movie 'Priyo Maloti' is going to be released soon.
The movie is jointly produced by Frame Per Second and OTT platform Chorki. Chorki’s verified Facebook made this announcement December 5.
Mehazabien has acted in the title role Shankha Dasgupta 's story, screenplay and direction. Mehazabien got emotional while talking about the release of her film in the country's cinemas for the first time. She remembered the beginning of her career.
She said, “The audience has been by my side since the beginning. From when I was new, until now, the audience has accepted and loved almost all the stories and characters. It is because of their love that I have come this far. I believe that the audience will also come to the cinema to watch my films and like them.”
In the meantime, the film has been screened at the Cairo International Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India. 'Priyo Maloti', which was officially selected at both prestigious festivals, has received widespread praise. The film, made in a completely domestic context, has been easily understood by foreign audiences.
The actress expressed, “I am happy to receive the appreciation of the international audience, but I am waiting for the domestic audience to show the film. Their response is invaluable to me. I will be happiest if the Bangladeshi audience likes it.”
Shankh Dasgupta is making his debut as a filmmaker with 'Priyo Maloti'. He said, “Priyo Maloti' is the story of a lived life. Everyone can connect. The director said, 'Times are different. Reforms are happening everywhere. My film also has an inherent appeal for reform. I hope the audience will think after watching the film and everyone will like it.” The film was announced in April this year.
Mehazabien Chowdhury plays the role of a lower-middle class woman in the film. Nader Chowdhury, Azad Abul Kalam, Shahjahan Samrat, Rizvi Riju and many others also act in it. The film was shot in various parts of the country, including Dhaka and Barisal, in September-October last year.
