The Chhatra Dal has removed Imran Hossain Shishir, the president of Gazipur District unit of the organization, from his party position following an allegation of rape.
The decision was revealed on Sunday in a letter signed by Jahangir Alam, office secretary (vice-president) of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s student wing.
The letter said that based on a specific allegation of violating organizational discipline, Imran Hossain Shishir is relieved from his position per the decision of the Central Committee.
The decision was approved by Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
A viral video on YouTube revealed that the accused Chhatra Dal leader had allegedly engaged in a physical relationship with the victim, 27, under the false promise of marriage.
The victim claimed that she had conceived several times over their six-year relationship, during which Shishir coerced her into taking medication to terminate her pregnancies.
The relationship allegedly began when Shishir was the convenor of the Kapasia Chhatra Dal, while the victim was studying at Kapasia Degree College.
The victim claims that he took her to various places, including Cox’s Bazar and even India, during which they engaged in sexual relations.
In the video interview, the victim stated that she met Shishir six years ago, and a romantic relationship ensued.
She shared private videos and intimate photos with journalists, claiming they were taken during their time together.
According to the victim, Shishir told her that if he got married while still holding a position in the Chhatra Dal, he would lose his post.
He promised to marry her once his term ended, but he has since cut off all communication, particularly after August 5.
When the victim complained to the Central Chhatra Dal president, she was offered a resolution, but Shishir did not respond.
She also reported that Shishir and his associates have been threatening her, including vandalizing her home and making death threats, warning her not to escalate the issue.
Recently, she learned that Shishir is already married, and his wife allegedly threatened the victim as well, even saying she would bring the police to her house.
In response to the allegations, Imran Hossain Shishir denied all accusations during a phone interview.
He claimed that some of his party members manipulated the woman into making false claims against him.
He added that the woman later realized her mistake and retracted her allegations, acknowledging on Facebook that the accusations were false.
Shishir reiterated that the allegations against him were fabricated, baseless, and motivated by malice.
