As part of the Ramadan Iftar Program, UAE Aid and the Zayed Foundation distributed food parcels among 1,620 underprivileged families across Bangladesh, including 500 families affected by the recent fire at Vashantek slum in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The initiative aims to support vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan by ensuring access to essential food supplies for daily iftar.
Mr Rashed Mohammed Naser Almail Alzaabi, director of the Foreign Aid Department at the UAE Embassy in Dhaka, visited the distribution site and observed the activities. He interacted with beneficiaries and local organizers while overseeing the process.
Each family received a food parcel weighing approximately 38 kilograms, containing essential items required for preparing daily iftar meals throughout Ramadan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Alzaabi said: “Ramadan is a time that reminds us of the importance of compassion, solidarity, and supporting those who are facing hardship. Through this initiative, the UAE Government, together with its humanitarian partners, aims to stand beside vulnerable communities in Bangladesh, especially those who have recently faced unexpected difficulties. We hope this support brings some comfort and relief to families during this blessed month.”
Beneficiaries, particularly those affected by the Vashantek slum fire, expressed gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for the timely assistance, noting that the food support would help their families manage daily meals during Ramadan.
The initiative reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to humanitarian assistance and its efforts to strengthen solidarity and friendship between the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh.
